Originally known as Watson in the early 1960’s, Watson was purchased by Todco in 1968. In the early 1980’s, Todco chose to subcontract many of the liftgate components to Thieman Stamping. By the late 80’s Thieman acquired the liftgate line from Todco and Thieman Tailgates was born. Today Thieman manufactures various liftgates including Pickup/Service, Stowaway, Railgates, Conventional and Sideloaders.
